SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Employee should be a flexible and resourceful person and possess high expectations for the inclusion of students with disabilities within the community workforce. The job also requires strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of the business community, and the ability to adapt to various work environments. Education, business, or training background is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board.  Must be of good character and moral behavior. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with students, family members, classroom teachers, and others to identify potential career interests and various job possibilities available in the community.
Coordinates student Career Assessment to identify student competencies, interests, relevant vocations (including kinds of work previously unconsidered) and learning about the impact of students’ disabilities and related support needs.
Completes written Career Assessment, and assists with development of students’ IPEs (Individualized Plan for Employment – through OVR) and students’ IEP (Individual Education Plan with teacher)..
Works with employers and students to develop personalized jobs.
Provides consultations for business personnel related to specific instruction and support needs of individual students __ promoting instruction by those who typically provide training, and supplementing employer training as needed.
Provides follow-up services to promote job stability and advancements and continuing success of students.
Maintains necessary records for the local school system and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  Keeps current and complete information regarding each student. Bill timely for appropriate services.
Completes year-end program data report.
Provides transportation according to district's community based instruction policies and procedures
Works collaboratively with OVR and KDE to create a unique program to address each student’s expressed strengths and interests.
The Student Employment Coordinator must attend all required meetings and trainings.
Perform related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions.
Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Consistently displays self-control with parents, students and school personnel.
Maintains a clean workstation (bus, desk, office, etc.) and does maintenance as needed.
Be clean, neat and appropriately dressed.
Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility.
Show enthusiasm, interest and concern for the total program and its efficient operation.
Maintains student control.
Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County Public Schools.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work year is comprised of the number of days as designated by the current school calendar and board policy with 4 paid holidays.
Salary commensurate with adopted classified personnel salary schedule.
Sick leave and personal leave provided as stated in board policy.
The employee is an “at will” employee and the superintendent may terminate this employment at any time.
